Week 1 in Rwanda!

Never had I thought my legs would be sore from a Sunday morning and a weekday church service.

“I will jump for joy and shout in triumph as I sing your song and make music for the Most High God.”

Psalms 9:2 TPT

The Lord has shown me this week that we can have fun in the Spirit. We can have fun in His presence by our praises!

I’ve only been in Africa for one week and I’ve already fallen in love with this place.

The name of the church we are ministering with this month is The International Healing Ministries with a congregation of 300+ people. There are so many people in the village and surrounding villages who come hungry for God’s Word. Most people don’t have bibles but come to hear God’s Word and to be filled by His presence.

About half the time of our 4 hour church services are mostly worship, praise, and prayer.

We worship in service to the Lord to give him glory and thank him for who he is. Then the worship team transitions to praise for we sing because of his goodness and his worthiness. The entire church jumps and dances exerting joy in our praise to the Lord.

It is so joyful and so fun! And I know the Lord delights in the happiness he brings to us and we in turn praise him in that!

To know that God as our Heavenly Father, delights in our praises, it gives me joy without fear of who’s watching me!

Jumping or dancing in the presence of the Lord is usually not my first instinct. I will do it with kids in kids ministry, but I was doing it to show kids that they can have fun in church. But I never had thought about it for myself, haha. God got me today as he reminded me of that!

“You too Katy, can have fun in my presence!” -God

Dance. Jump. Who cares! We have many reasons and blessings to count and to make our time of joyful praise worth it for the Lord. Like I said, He’s worthy!
